The speaker urged the Senate to pass resolution SR 26/27-016, arguing that adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism and the Brandeis settlement chills student free speech and marginalizes Palestinian students. They stated that protecting Jewish students from antisemitism should not come at the expense of Palestinian students' rights to discuss their history and engage in political advocacy.

A UC Berkeley Jewish student spoke in support of the resolution opposing the codification of the IHRA definition of antisemitism. They argued that the definition flattens Jewish perspectives, ignores UC academic scholarship, and promotes anti-intellectualism.
